Cuyahoga County Judge Richard McMonagle ruled on March 20th that the Ohio BWC must refund $859 million to about 264,000 employers. The refund is the result of the 2007 lawsuit that claimed the Ohio BWC charged excessive workers' compensation premiums to make up for the losses of group rated employers. The Bureau intends to appeal the ruling but it appears that this six year battle is moving closer to resolution. Spooner will continue to monitor this lawsuit and post updates as they arise.
